When the right side of the brain is damaged a person may struggle with different thinking skills. Attention, perception, problem solving, reasoning, memory, social communication can all be compromised if a right hemisphere brain injury occurs. The most common causes are stroke, tumors and traumatic brain injuries. Our speech pathologist can test and treat their language and cognitive skills.
A traumatic brain injury can occur when one experiences a bump or blow to the head or when an object goes through the skull and into the brain. Damage to the brain is immediate no matter the cause or type of damage. Doctors treat problems that result in swelling and/or seizure activity.
